Everyone who is struggling with alopecia now has a huge advantage - the Internet. I was not so lucky at the beginning. And I would definitely welcome some valuable advice.
When the first circles of hair started to fall out, I did not even think that I could ever lose everything. As if to hear a warning from doctors that this could happen would not be completely out of the question. It was 2004, I was a teenager and there were not 100 pages on the Internet on one topic. Something like alopecia certainly did not appear on those few sites.
Then, about ten years later, I lost all my hair, Facebook was starting up in the Czech Republic, and nobody would think that influencers will take over social media once. I definitely would like to know more about wigs. Differences between hair, not only synthetic and real, but also differences between the quality of real hair. I also found out about endowment funds by mistake.
So what I missed extra was the advice on how to wash the wig and take care of it. Today, a lot of influencers are focusing on it. They did not say much in that wig shop either, I got a short talk, which in the light of other experiences was actually for nothing.
I was still clinging to the fact that real hair wigs are better, but today it is almost impossible to tell the difference and you do not cry so much because of the price. I also kind of thought naively a long time ago that a wig would last for several years. Um, for everyday wear, a year, two max.
What I miss so far is comprehensive information, treatment options, information about wig sellers, wig care, endowment funds, etc. in one place. There are various sites, more foreign, some doctors have Youtube or other social media, but they share only a few pieces of information on alopecia. This is of course also due to the fact that different treatments work differently for different people, several private clinics offer treatment that focuses only on their products, etc. Simply nothing impartial and unbiased. Efforts have been made to make such a page on Facebook in Czech, and despite the enthusiasm of its creators, it is now rather stagnant. The Internet is overwhelmed with information, but not at all about alopecia.
So maybe my blog helps you at least a little to orient yourself and find out the basic information.
